Rescue

Who is a mountain rescuer?

A mountain rescuer is a mountaineer with knowledge of mountaineering skills who is physically and mentally capable of performing rescue work. He joins the local association of the mountain rescue service, where during the three-year internship period he acquires knowledge of summer rescue techniques, winter rescue techniques, providing first aid and knowledge of basic handling when working with a helicopter (module A).

However, technical knowledge is not enough to carry out the mission of a mountain rescuer. A mountain rescuer must be ready to sacrifice a lot of his free time for the work of a rescuer and be ready to help at any moment. Mountain rescuers perform humanitarian tasks and are volunteers, which means that they do not receive any payment for their work. Rescue and training tasks are carried out in the mountainous world and on difficult-to-access terrains, which are usually exposed to great effort, so mountain rescuers are constantly trained and take care of their physical and also psychological stamina and form.

Being a mountain rescuer is a mission and a way of life.
