Rescue

Emergency call

If an accident occurs in the mountains, it is necessary to act quickly and correctly in order to provide the victim with the best possible assistance. It may take some time for rescuers to arrive due to difficult-to-access terrain or bad weather, but time is a very important factor in most cases. The most we can do is immediately after the accident, so let's help as best we can. If there is a threat of severe bleeding, avalanches or respiratory distress, it is essential to act immediately, because the survival curve in such cases drops rapidly over time, so we do everything we know and can do.

Basic steps

  1. Keep calm, calm ourselves and others.
  2. Assess the situation.
  3. Protect yourself and the victim from immediate dangers, such as falling stones, avalanches, cold.
  4. We offer first aid as far as we know and are able.
  5. We inform the rescuers about the accident on the number 112.

When calling specify

We need the following information from you:

  • Name & surname of the caller
  • What happened
  • Event location
  • Event time
  • Number of casualties
  • Types of injuries
  • Circumstances at the scene of the accident
  • What help do you need?

Possible methods of calling the rescuers

1. Mobile phone

The telephone number 112 can also be reached in areas where the signals of Slovenian and Austrian or Italian mobile operators are mixed.

2. GRS intelligence points

We can still be unlucky when we are without a phone or the area we are in is not covered by a signal. In such a case, a written message about the accident must reach the intelligence point. From there it goes along the route described above. Intelligence points are mountain outposts, high mountain farms and other outposts in the mountain world, and police stations in the valley. Intelligence points are visibly marked with the GRS symbol.

3. SAPOGO Automatic Emergency Call Radios

Since most of the mountain outposts are closed in winter, these intelligence points cannot help us. That is why we have installed SAPOGO devices - automatic radio stations for emergency calls - in areas that are visited even in winter.

SAPOGO is located in the following posts:

  • Kocbekov dom na Korošici,
  • Dom Valentina Staniča pod Triglavom,
  • Vodnikova koča na Velem polju,
  • Gomiščkovo zavetje na Krnu,
  • Zavetišče GRS na planini Šija,
  • Dom na Peci.

In the event of an accident, call 112 immediately.
