At the beginning of April, eight members of the Slovenian Mountain Rescue Association from various stations took part in a three-day professional training in Crolles, France, hosted at Petzl’s headquarters. The goal of the training was to obtain the certification of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Inspectors, focusing on the gear used in our rescue operations.
During the course, we deepened our understanding of safety standards, legislation, and the technical features of equipment such as ropes, harnesses, carabiners, pulleys, and other components that form our protective gear. We also learned about inspection procedures and how to document the condition of equipment – a key aspect in ensuring the safety of both rescuers and casualties.
Special emphasis was placed on the identification of wear, damage, and potential malfunctions, as well as the criteria for retiring equipment from service. The training was highly hands-on, filled with practical examples and open discussions with Petzl experts.
We’re proud to report that all participants successfully completed the training and received their official PPE Inspector certification. The knowledge gained will be invaluable in our daily work, ensuring that the equipment we rely on during rescues remains safe, reliable, and ready for even the most demanding situations.
We thank our long-time supporters who help us on our way.
